FCPC member Margo Thorning serves on the Welcome Table Planning Team and enjoys helping with Welcome Table dinners. An avid horseback rider, she also volunteers at Lift Me Up, a therapeutic riding center in Great Falls, Va. A few years ago, she began taking drum lessons and now plays in two jazz bands: the Capitol Jazz Combo, based in Falls Church, and the Windmill Jazz Collective, headquartered at the Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church in Alexandria. Margo was featured in a 2016 Washington Post article: More older adults learn it’s never too late to pick up a musical instrument.
